Falling asleep in a dream?

Have any of you ever falling asleep in a dream? Last night, in my dream, I was with two other people and we were about to have a shared lucid dream. We had done this once before (in the dream universe). We wore earbuds and listened to the same song (lol inception) and put a buzzing device on a single index finger which numbed it. As I feel asleep in the dream, the music faded away and I was aware of being in some weird heavy humming/vibrating state. Then the sounds of my roommate in the kitchen faded into my consciousness and I was awake.

The whole fading from dream sleep to consciousness took about 6 seconds (it felt like) The in between phase was about 3 seconds and it's really hard to describe it. I was aware, but there was no sound and I wasn't aware of being awake, it was just like...I don't even know how to explain it. I don't really believe that the dream world and conscious world are alternate realities, but it's made me wonder. I fell asleep in the dream and woke up in the conscious world. I did some reality checks to make sure I wasn't still dreaming.

Anyone experience anything similar? Or just falling asleep in a dream before? I want to know if this was just one occurrence or if falling asleep in a dream always results in waking up.

  8. i have experienced this before.. ive been trying to stay conscious through this time, the time you are feeling is the transitional period. I once used this transitional time to cause me to have lucids. One night i realized i went in and out of dreams so many times that it was nuts, like i had dreams with in dreams with in dreams with in dreams, and each one id go to sleep and kinda like prince of persia, morping into my next life or stage of life, a level below the one i was in. Using the transitional time as the dream sign. If u can ever focus on that time like that, you will realize how many lives you live simultaneously. Like inception but with out all that mumbo put something on my finger lame shit. i just did it.
